Important information:

1. Students from outside the valley must arrive in Kathmandu on 5th Jestha, 2081 (18th May, 2024). Accommodation will be arranged and funded by the NPS from that day until the end of the program. Students are asked to manage their meals by themselves. The NPS will only provide tea and snacks once during the day.

2. We are requesting funds for travel and registration for the IPhO-2024 from the Nepal government and other institutions. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure funding last year, and students had to cover the costs themselves. This year, we are still uncertain about government funding for the IPhO-2024. In a worst-case scenario, the selected students may have to cover their own expenses for participating in the IPhO-2024.We are trying to collect fund for travel and registration for IPhO-2024 from Nepal government and other institutions, however, we were unable to get in last year and students were managing the amounts by themselves. This year we are still uncertain about the government funding for IPhO-2024. In any case, the final selected students may pay for themselves for the participation in IPhO-2024.

Note: Students from outside the valley should reach Kathmandu on 5^th of Jesth, 2081. For the travel grant students may request their colleges. NPS will provide only accommodation and light snacks during the training periods.

Note: The result is based on meret according to the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, Government of Nepal: “राष्ट्रिय ओलम्पियाड सन्चालन तथा अनुदान कार्यविधी, २०८०”. In its final form, the policy regarding reservations has been removed.

(The manual form must first be downloaded. Once filled out, it can be given to a nearest NePhO representative. There is a registration fee of NRs. 1000. Note : Students from government or community schools will be eligible for a 50% discount on the registration fee if a letter from their respective VDC or municipality is uploted with this form. Clarification: +2 need not to be government, however letter must be from VDC or municipality )

Nepal Physical Society (NPS) has formed its sister organization Nepal Physics Olympiad (NePhO) committee and entrusted it with organizing a national level Physics Olympiad for secondary level (+2) science students. The committee prepares a team for the participation in International/Asian Physics Olympiad (IPhO/APhO) events to be held every year. The top five students selected from NePhO are eligible to participate in IPhO/APhO.

The NePhO participants should be below 20 years of age and should not be enrolled in any Bachelors level program. The competition is designed to test the understanding of physical principles and to apply them in practical situations. The best pre-selected students will be given tutorials and training before the final selection of the participants for IPhO/APhO events. The best five students from the final selection will be given an intensive tutorial and training for the participation in IPhO/APhO events.
